The Appol Corps Story & Tradition

The AppolCorps (APPalachian Orientation Leader Corps) is a group of 200+ ASU students who serve the university as orientation leaders during Welcome Weekend in August. These student leaders welcome the new students to ASU and assist these students in their transition to college life at Appalachian. Appol Corps was started as a response to freshmen students who felt a bit overwhelmed about starting college. The first Welcome Weekend, then known as Phase 2 Orientation, occurred in August 1982, and the first group of student leaders known as The AppolCorps were formed in 1983. Over twenty-five years later, AppolCorps Leaders are still helping new students find their place at Appalachian!
